Content tied to global or national themed days, where I create meaningful, heartfelt, and touching pieces that connect emotionally with our audience.

I created this vox pop content for International Students’ Day. My initial idea was a simple close-up vox pop where I asked students to share a word or phrase in their language and explain the meaning. It would have worked, but it felt too ordinary. I wanted something more creative, engaging, and ambitious, something that would genuinely stand out.

So I proposed a new concept: leaving a mic in a busy area of campus with a camera positioned further away. The idea was to let students approach the mic on their own, showing initiative and spontaneity. While this method was far more challenging, it aligned with my work ethic: always aim for creativity, ambition, and audience impact.

This project required significantly more work than the original idea:

1. Cross-team coordination: I needed to coordinate with a colleague from another team who had the specialised equipment and knew how to operate it.

2. Location scouting: Because the setup was unusual, I had to explore several areas on campus to find a spot that worked visually, logistically, and sound-wise.

3. Unpredictability of participation: Unlike traditional vox pops where I can interview people directly, this method depended on spontaneous involvement. To avoid low turnout, I sent pre-invitation to international student societies, ambassadors, and students I knew.

4. Confidence in a high-visibility setup: On the day, I had to overcome the nerves of making a scene - setting up in the busiest area on campus, and hand-signing at my colleague behind the camera, drawing attention from everyone around me, and it felt intimidating at first.

5. Real-time data capture: While the camera was rolling, I hid near the mic, waiting for each student to finish. I then had to quickly run to them, note their language and phrase (for subtitles), and get them to sign a long consent form.

6. Managing simultaneous interactions: During quieter moments, I went around the area encouraging students to participate. But sometimes someone would suddenly step up to the mic mid-conversation, so I had to sprint back to capture their details and consent.

7. Live coordination: Throughout the whole shoot, I was constantly checking with my colleague behind the camera to confirm audio quality, visibility, and whether anyone needed to redo their answer.

There was so much happening at once behind the scenes. I was constantly jogging between tasks and speaking to many people at once. Fortunately, the setup worked extremely well and attracted a lot of attention, leading to strong participation and positive engagement.

During editing, I double-checked every word students said. I verified spellings and meanings in each language to ensure accuracy. I also caught one inappropriate response, which I removed immediately to avoid negativity. This shows my attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and thoughtful decision-making.

Overall, this project demonstrates my creativity, ambition, adaptability, and ability to manage a complex shoot under pressure. It also shows my commitment to producing meaningful and high-quality content that truly celebrates our international community. This content gains 41.2K views, 14k+ likes, 345 shares on Instagram and strong internal recognition.

I created this piece for International Women’s Day with the intention of making something truly heartfelt. Instead of choosing a simple or ordinary idea, I decided to hand out notes with kind words to women on campus and capture their reactions.

The biggest challenge was overcoming the fear of approaching strangers, giving them a note without explanation, and then returning later to explain the project and request consent. It felt uncomfortable at times especially going back to someone who had clearly been touched and telling them it was for social media. I repeated the process many times to capture the most genuine and positive reactions.

This project demonstrates my ability to push through mental barriers, step out of my comfort zone, and commit to creating meaningful, emotionally resonant content. I always aim to bring fresh and thoughtful ideas to life.
